Dim Sum

Finding somewhere for lunch or dinner in London isn’t hard. There are thousands of restaurants, bistros and cafes offering up every type of cuisine imaginable. Sometimes, though, you want something other than a panini or cake and coffee – something that’s a little more exotic. Luckily, London is home to many of the best dim sum restaurants in the country.

Hakkasan

Michelin starred and considered one of the best restaurants in London of any kind, Hakkasan is glamorous but welcoming.

The Hakkasan Bruton Street locale delivers a veritable smorgasbord of dim sum options. Dim sum lunches and ‘Dim Sum Sunday’ are the best time to go and try out options like scallop shumai, Chinese chive dumplings and their amazing char sui buns. Hakkasan also does a great range of cocktails and if you do indulge. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Yauatcha

Coming at dim sum and traditional Chinese dining from another angle, Yauatcha offers amazing food in an awesome location.

The Soho location is a contemporary, basement restaurant offering food that looks so good you might be reticent to eat it. But eat it you should, because Yauatcha makes amazing dim sum.

The food is all traditionally prepared, made using fresh ingredients and there are enough options for even the most hardcore dim sum fanatic. The pork and prawn shu mai is delicious, as is the seafood block truffle dumpling. Who are we kidding, it’s all amazing!

Opium Cocktail and Dim Sum Parlour

Opulent, yet relaxed and laid back, Opium Cocktail and Dim Sum Parlour is the perfect place to pass an evening. The dim sum and the cocktails are on an even par in terms of their amazing quality and taste, so it’s probably best to have a hearty selection of both.

They offer a great range of traditional dim sum, and you might want to check out the ‘Stiggins Presidente’ cocktail of pineapple rum, dry curacao and Dolin dry vermouth. Simply amazing!

Phoenix Palace

Offering great, traditional dim sum, Phoenix Palace is only 15-minutes from many of the hotels in Paddington, making it the perfect place to nip for dinner after enjoying a tipple at your London accommodation.

The presentation here is truly special, and you’ll be impressed by how much your serving looks like a work of art. Don’t let that stop you tucking in though, because the dim sum is flavourful and will leave you wanting more. The classics like har gau and char siu bao are the main attraction here, so order these and prepare to be amazed.
